AJ
I had a Bank of America Visa, in my name only. I got behind on the payments, and the account was closed. I have been making payments on it, now, for a few months. My spouse has a Bank of America Visa and I am an authorized user...but not a co applicant. My question is, if I settle my credit card debt with Bank of America, will they close my spouse's account due to the settlement and my bad credit? Or, if I get behind on payments, again, will they close my spouse's account?
Clydesmom
They might close your spouse's account regardless. They can close it for any reason or no reason and the consumer has no recourse. It is their option to offer the credit in the first place. There is nothing you or your spouse can do to stop BoA if they decide to close the account.
