ReadSS
Can an associate attorney make all appearances in court proceedings if he's not the attorney on record in the lawsuit? Both attorneys are from Smith Debnam Law Firm in NC and can practice law in South Carolina. I think it's odd that the attorney on record does not sign any of the pleadings and has never appeared in court. Why, then, is he the attorney on record? This is for a credit card lawsuit (civil court, local) with Discover Bank.
Guest usctrojanalum
Yes, it's legal. A third party attorney can even show up who doesn't even work for the law firm.
