Threatening phone call

I have received a message left on my cell phone. The lady stated her name is McKay Miller. She stated that she has paper forward to her this morning and required her to serve me which force my signature . She will come to my residence or place of employment on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016 between 1 and 3pm. Since this is time sensitive matter, if I want to know more information, call the number 281-607-4219 and my case 1490746. This is a courtesy call. She, then called my home phone and left exact the message. She also called my job and left the same phone number 281-607-4219. Is it a correct information which means someone will come to either my residence or my place of work. Did they violate the law since they called my place of employement. What should I do? Please give me some advice.

SCAM.  However I might be tempted to call back, tell them you are recording the call and ask for their address so you can send a cease and desist all phone calls.

Do you have any outstanding debts?

Most of these type calls are scams, they tell you they are going to serve you with papers to sue you unless you send them payment right now. They usually ask for a bank routing info, or credit card, then they clean you out.

SCAM.  Simply tell your employer you have been targeted by a scammer and are working to shut it down but NOT to panic or pay them.  Same with family.

Process servers don't warn you that they are coming (who would be home?) nor do the cops if they are going to arrest you.  The whole script is classic for the pay day loan scam or some other fraudulent collection tactic.  The whole point is to scare you into paying.  As @shellieh98 said DO NOT give them any bank account information or credit card numbers because they WILL clean you out.  They typically want a prepaid credit/debit card or Western Union because the money is untraceable once they collect it.

The entire script is a violation of the law(s) (though calling your place of employment the first time isn't but is if they get a cease and desist) however, these scammers are using a prepaid burner cell phone, spoofed numbers, and mail drop boxes if they are even in the USA at all.  Even if you could serve them they will simply disappear into the wind and you would never collect even if you got a judgment against them.  They will relocate to a new area/state and start all over.

You have several options:  first; ignore them.  NOTHING bad will happen if you do.  Second:  call them back and tell them you know it is a scam, have notified friends, family, and employer and they know too and will NOT pay.  Third:  wait for them to call again and tell them you know its a scam and won't pay or my favorite;  SCREW WITH THEM.  I say all kinds of things when I get these calls:  you bring donuts I will put on coffee.  Meet me at the court house.  Come serve me now.  I am already in jail just have Barney Fife bring the papers to me. etc.  Another option is to use an air horn and blast their ears off.

What ever you choose, relax.  NO ONE is coming to serve you or arrest you based on that phone call.
