Judgement filed against house

Recommended Posts

Back in 2009, Hunt & Henriques filed a judgement against my home. I just found this out while trying to refinance. I had to dig back into old paperwork to figure out what this was.

Once I found the letters, it all came back to me. I was harassed by this "law firm" for months on end while several months pregnant. This was in regards to a Citibank card that I had. Unfortunately, I was a loan officer during the 2006 market crash. Our income was reduced to literally half, and we relocated our home. In the midst of all of this, I worked with all of my other accounts/credit cards and settled or made payment agreements on ALL accounts, but Citibank stuck Hunt & Henriques on me instead. I was harassed by phone and mail until I was finally served and called into court. I was under a ton of stress, lost my job with Wells Fargo, and had my daughter prematurely (with over $10k in medical bills AFTER insurance) and was dealing with these d-bags. I hardly recall the court appearance. No one spoke to me or asked me any questions and I was dismissed. Before I know it, I have this judgement. They were not willing to work with me at all. The debt ballooned to an outrageous amount, far more than I owed to begin with (over $9k). I haven't even called yet to see what the total is now. I'm wondering how to go about clearing this up the right way without getting screwed over again or dealing with this firm. I would rather go to Citibank directly and try to resolve or settle with them for a fair amount. Any suggestions on how to handle this would be greatly appreciated.
