Received a collection letter from collection agency. It is for medical. It is addressed to my ex's husband first name, my first name, my last name.

It says Your account with Dr.xxx has been forwarded to us for collection. so, not sure if they purchased the debt.

Should I send it back saying no such person lives here?

Thanks

While it does happen typically medical debt is not sold due to HIPAA concerns.  More than likely it is simply with a collection agency now.

No.  Send a DV letter stating that based on the unclear person it is addressed to you cannot tell what this debt or who this debt is for and you would like validation.  Then they should respond with a copy of a statement from the provider.  If it is for your ex then you send a letter back stating you are no longer married and they should contact him directly.
