I was served fake court papers saying I owe 22k to capital one. First off my credit score is a 500 why would capital one give me 22k worth of credit? This was a card that was in my mother's name that I took responsibility for and told capital one I stole her identity they never confirmed this with her they just put it in my name closed account locked me out so I couldn't pay anymore a year later I get served with the fake papers ever. The original credit limit was 10k how they got 22k I have no clue. Do I have to pay this or can I just say I dont know wtf your talking about since this was not in my name orginallly?

Depends on how much you want to risk going to jail for fraud.  You committed identity theft which is also a felony.  Admitting this was not your smartest move either.

Check the court website.  If a case was filed against you the papers are real and this is very serious.  The chances that these are fake papers are slim to none.  Cap1 is an aggressive creditor and pursues lawsuits rather than selling bad debts.

As you already admitted being a fraudster, the balance of $22k on a $10k credit limit further verifies you are one. What you did, I’m sure on “accident” was pay off the $10k balance, get the credit available next day, then max out your card again, then the $10k payment you made comes back NSF.

I think a great way to answer the lawsuit is to say “ I don’t know wtf you’re taking about.” Please report back your success.
