Cavalry - Validation of Item SOL

I submitted dispute to CRA for item on credit report. Stated that it was too old to collect on. Received documents from Cavalry stating the following:

Per your request, find enclosed the verification of your debt. Your account is now subject to resumption of collection efforts. Says I can contact them and so on. Then at bottom says:

The law limits how long you can be sued on a debt. Because of the age of your debt, we will not sue you for it. If you do pay the debt, they will continue to report it to credit reporting agencies.

They sent two copies of bills, but address for first one is my current location which is incorrect. Then for the second one, its the old address but I didn't live there then. I have copies of my credit reports running back to at least 2007, so I have record of it and the dates. This item should be coming off by November of this year.

Do I do anything or just ignore it?

Ignore their letter.  Middle to late August dispute again as obsolete and it may drop off early.  You are wasting your time with Cavalry.  They can't sue so their only weapon is to report to the bitter end.

So when they claim that this now subject to resumption of collection, that's there way of trying to scare me into paying?

That is their way of saying that they will call you and ask nicely (or maybe not so nicely) that you pay since that is all they can legally do. You technically can send them a Cease and Desist letter and that would stop those efforts.

Is there a reason why you are trying to get this removed sooner than November. If not, then I would not worry about this until November and then make sure the tradeline is removed. Since Calvary won't do a PFD anyways, at this point there is no reason to pay them.

It was my attempt to clear this 1 of 4 items from credit report so I could buy a home.

They are not going to clear the item then. You can try to wait until mid August or September but I think Calvary will make sure the trade line stays on to the bitter end. They know that you are trying to clean up your credit report for something and they are hoping you will simply pay them even if the debt is outside of SOL.

Okay I'll just leave things alone.

Thank you
