Need some clarification before submitting my demand to JAMS

Okay, first I want to thank everyone for the valuable information as it has helped me immensely in my court case against Midland Funding. I had my MTC granted for arbitration, so I am now in the process of submitting the demand with JAMS. After reading the instructions on the form and the guides on here, I have some further clarification questions before I get this taken care of and sent out.

1. JAMS is asking for two copies of things, are they requesting the extra copies for themselves or are they meaning that I send one copy to them and the other to the other party? Do I have to send them two copies of everything and one copy to the other party?

2. The proof of service of the Demand on the appropriate party is just proof I mailed them the demand? I've seen people post about Certified Mail/Return Receipt, would Certified Mail/Return Receipt Electronic suffice?

Thank you again. I'm sure if I have more questions, I'll include them.

When I went through this process, I followed the instructions on the first page of the Demand for Arbitration Form.   (They're a little confusing.)

Because JAMS requires proof you've served the Respondent, my first step was to mail one copy of the completed demand form to the Respondent by Certified Return Receipt.  Once the return receipt came back in the mail, I sent the following to JAMS:

  • Two copies of the completed Demand for Arbitration.
  • Two copies of the return receipt
  • Two copies of the contract containing the arbitration provision

You don't need to send your filing fee to JAMS at this stage of the game.
