Synchrony's credit card agreement has an arbitration provision.   Study the following thread:

After reading that thread, go to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau credit card agreement database, and locate the Synchrony agreement that was in effect when the account went into default.  Depending upon the year of default, it might be in the archives.
