zdevilinside
A long time ago, I went to Mexico with my cell phone. The phone was cloned and it showed me making calls within minutes of each other from Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City - I wish I could travel between these cities within 10 minutes! When my bill came in from Verizon, I refused to pay the bill and told them there was fraudulent activity on my account and I wouldn't pay until it was fixed. They told me that I needed to pay the amount owed and any credit I receive would be applied to future bills. No way am I going to pay $6k out of my pocket and then wait to get credited on my account once the investigation was concluded. This happened in 2015. Surprisingly, when I woke up this morning, I had a notification stating my credit score went down. There was a new collection account - for Verizon. The company that is trying to collect has shown the account went into collection this month. Can they re-age an account like this? What can I do to get this fixed? WhoCares1000
You will need to look at your credit report and see what they are showing as the date of default. If they are showing the correct date for default then they are not re-aging the account.
BV80
@zdevilinside More than likely, the collection agency is showing the date that the account was opened in their records. That is not the same as the date of default and does not reage the account.
