Living outside of the country - new "bad" credit from the US

I have lived outside the United States since March 2015.  I make sporadic trips back for less than a week at a time now.  I have had new collection accounts show up from things I supposedly did while I was outside of the US.  I have sent copies of my leases in Germany and Mexico showing I wasn't in the country during the time that the accounts supposedly would have been opened.  The collection companies have come back and stated these accounts do belong to me and refuse to remove them - they validated the accounts.  How can I have this derogatory debt removed from my credit history?  I don't remember opening these accounts, the accounts were created after I had moved to another country and I do not remember doing any business with them.

On a rhetorical note - how could I have gotten ER treatment in the US during a time I was living in Germany?  How could I have opened a "Care Credit" account used for vet bills in the US when I was in Germany at the time?  I also had some happen after I returned to the Western Hemisphere and it might be possible if I leaved near the border but I am down in the Mexico City area.

You said you made trips here while you lived there. It's not hard to use a relative's mailing address that lives here. Medical and credit card companies never verify, not to mention you could have used that address for credit in the past so it matched your credit reports when the credit card was opened.

At any rate, if these aren't your accounts, file a police report and use that to dispute with the credit bureaus.

I have been in the US a total of 12 days over the last 3 years.

It takes about 6 hours for a visit to the ER, and about 10 minutes to fill out a credit card application. You'd have 11 more days to enjoy the sights.

Is there a way to file a police report for this type of thing from overseas?

Pick up the phone and call your local non-emergency police number.

1 - The length of time in the US hasn't had a single ER visit nor have I filled out a credit card application while there.

2 - The # to call the local police where I last lived in NM goes to voicemail and when I have left messages, they haven't called me back.  Albuquerque, NM is one of the worst in the nation about this type of thing.  The only real way to actually get through to them is via the emergency #.

Ok.  You never affirmatively said this until now.  It sounded like you were trying to make a case of 'how could it have been me?' by using things that don't prove it wasn't you.

Call YOUR LOCAL police department to file the report.  Where you live now.

Okay.  Thank you very much for the tip.  I have to decide which Mexican police department would be best for this issue.

As for trying to make a case of "How could it have been me?", that is exactly the case.  How could it have been me if I was out of the country and nowhere near where the accounts were opened?  I haven't been back to the city that the "Care Credit" account was started nor within 1000 miles of where service was performed with that credit card.  I hope that makes more sense.

Now for something different.  My nephew had his cell phone turned off for non-payment 4 years ago.  About 5 months ago, this account was put on his credit report as a new collection account.  Instead of showing the debt as occurred in 2014, it shows 2018.  Is that considered "re-aging" of a collection account?
