Robsinfl
I had a lawyer threaten to sue Portfolio Recovery and they agreed to pay me damages, never sell the accounts, never collect on the accounts, and remove them from my credit report due to being overly aggressive at collecting. I still have the original creditors on my credit report showing as charge offs and the lawyer suggested disputing them. Is it possible to remove the original charge offs and if so how? Robsinfl Your suit against Portfolio has no bearing on the OC or their reporting. You would have to find an error in the OC's reporting, dispute it and hope they remove it. However, it is much more difficult to do with an OC than with a JDB like Portfolio. The places I have had past success is by comparing all 3 credit reports side by side and making sure every single detail is the same across all 3. Sometimes, you will find a date or dollar amount is different on one than the other two. Clearly that would be something to dispute to all 3, since two different dates or amounts can not be both accurate at the same time.
