Time lorde
Hello everyone, Last Friday night a Sheriff tried to serve a summons to my mother (Capital One) but she no longer lives with us. She now lives back home (Puerto Rico). We were not given any papers or anything. He just wrote down that she no longer lives with us. What will the next steps be? Officially, we were not given any info but the officer was kind enough to "accidentally" show us the amount ($3200) and the company (CO). Any help, info or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Harry Seaward
They will probably get permission from the court for alternative service (usually regular mail to last known address). They'll get a default judgment and, if she has no business dealings here in the US and isn't married to anyone still living here, nothing more will come of it.
