rburns515 0 Report post Posted July 25 Hello All, I recently disputed 6 items on my credit report with Equifax and today I notice the my credit score dropped 5 points. They have the disputed items listed as "Consumer disputes - reinvestigation in progress". Is it normal for the credit score drop as a result of an investigation dispute request? Thanks in advance of replies.
Harry Seaward 1,296 Report post Posted July 26 I'm assuming you're using credit karma or some other 3rd party source for your 'score'. These services only guess at your actual FICO score. Furthermore, there are hundreds of scenarios that could cause a score drop, and it may not be the dispute that actually caused the drop. For example, it's possible another account updated to a higher balance causing your utilization to shift from one score tier to another. Bottom line, if it's not FICO, don't bother trying to figure it out.
rburns515 0 Report post Posted July 27 Harry, You are right on point. It was Credit Karma that showed the drop. Should have included that in the post. I will take your advice. Thanks!
