sumoftheparts
I received in the mail today a memorandum of costs after judgment notice where the plaintiff is unifund llc. All areas in item 1 are valued at 0.00 and item 2 describes the principal amount I owe in addition to the interest. Upon looking up the case online with the Los Angeles case look up system I see that they were granted default judgment by the court. I reviewed the case documents and most of the materials there were never served to me and one details how it was served to my hispanic mother who never told me about it because I'm sure the person serving did not speak spanish. Is there anything I can do at this point? Thank you
Harry Seaward
File a motion to set aside judgment for defective service. This happens a lot, to the point that there are usually pre-printed forms available at the courthouse.
