jedasud
Hello, Looking for some information. My friend had a wage garnishment come through on this weeks pay. I know it's after the fact, but can an objection be still be filed? They live in NJ and work in PA. The only credit problem they think might be the cause, is a car loan in the 80s. The car was totaled due to an accident and there was a balance remaining. Thanks to this Covid-19 epidemic and being an essential worker, they have very little time to handle any personal matters. Just looking for some information I could pass on. I feel soo awful that this is happening at this time. Thanks so much

No it is possibly too late for that. 2 hours ago, jedasud said: Just looking for some information I could pass on. He needs to ask his payroll department WHO is garnishing the check. Then find out when he was sued and get copies of EVERYTHING from the court where the suit was filed and judgment obtained. If they were never served properly for the suit there is a chance that the judgment can be vacated but he needs to move quickly. The other issue is getting it vacated will likely need the services of an attorney.
jedasud
Thankyou for the reply. Looks like the lawsuit is from LVNV Funding(Wells Fargo). Sorry it was from 08 not 80s. Any suggestions for finding an affordable attorney? Since I'm laid off and have the time, I will try and help gather as much info to help. Try the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) for a listing of NJ licensed consumer attorneys: https://www.consumeradvocates.org/find-an-attorney?field_areas_of_practice_list_value=Debt+Collection&field_practice_states_value=NJ @SJULawAlum any suggestions? KylieJones
A lot of people have issues with managing their salaries. For example, let's take the average salary of the United States of America as $40,000 salary a year. A lot of people spend a lot of money on things they really don't need. For example, one person is spending money on leasing on two cars and a very big house, and this is thirty percent of his salary, and the rest of the money on food and other things like clothes. By spending money on these kinds of things when you really don't need you can't make saving to go to retirement and have a happy and calm end of life.
