What Can I Expect?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I have a rather unique situation. several credit card  accounts were opened in my name and maintained for years and whomever opened them decided to default on them leaving me with charge offs all over my credit reports and a massive headache trying to deal with these. In gathering all of this information I've gone ahead and got filed a police report, completed an FTC affidavit of id theft, provided copies of my social security card, drivers license and W2's going back to 2008. So far two of the creditors have ruled in my favor, and one has not citing that they have copies of my drivers license when a purchase was made back in 2015, and payments were made on the account  (how I do not know as I've never done business with this company). I have several other companies that I've sent this packet to, but have not yet heard anything back and if my research is correct they have until the end of April to respond (they all received the packets on the 10th...so 45 days will be towards the end of next month)....given everyone's experience here, what in your option can i expect to come from this? and what more if anything can i do with this? I just want this stuff off of my credit reports....

Was your wallet stolen in or prior to 2015? Is it possible someone you know/knew may have had access to your ID?

Did you get a copy of the driver's license they claim to have a copy of that "you" presented when the purchase was made in 2015? If not, can they provide the license number for you to verify?

Do you know how the payments on these accounts were made? Can you demonstrate that you make payments on your legitmate accounts in a different manner/method or from a different bank?

Did you contact your attorney general's office to find out if they have anything else for identity theft victims in your situation?

This sounds like a nightmare. I hope other members here have better advice for you. Best of luck.
