KathleenSR
I Seem To Have Two Completely Different Equifax Files I have long suspected that I have a split Equifax account. My credit report on Equifax.com has two of my accounts, the mailed version has the other 23. All of the accounts are mine and are being reported accurately. Their customer service representatives refuse to verify my identity over the phone and they wouldn’t be able to help with this anyway. I have mailed Equifax my identifying documents and also uploaded them to their site via their dispute process. Annualcreditreport.com can’t verify my identity to send me a new EQ report so I downloaded their form and sent it off with the requested identifying documents last week. I have no idea what I have to do to get an accurate EQ file. Does anybody here know? Thanks in advance.
Determined1
Hi Kathleen, I pulled my credit report today on Equifax.com and noticed the file was very thin, not reporting all of my accounts. So I pulled a second report from AnnualCreditReport.com. That report contained much more info, including both accounts missing from the other report and some dated, erroneous info. Sounds somewhat similar to your situation. Did you have any success in merging / fixing your Equifax split report? Can you share any details on your progress? Thank you. KathleenSR
I sent off a CMRRR to Equifax with printouts of the file from Equifax.com and the most recent report I received in the mail (which are vastly different) and asked that my file be accurately merged. The response I got back was totally bizarre. They sent back a result of a "dispute" of my student loans. I have 10 closed paid ones on my other reports. Equifax removed 4 of them and explained they determined the other ones belonged to me. I never mentioned student loans in my letter and did not file any dispute other than asking that my file be merged. Before I file complaints with the CFPB and FTC I wanted to get an updated copy of my mailed report. I went on annualcreditreport.com to get it and was denied the report citing identification verification issues. So I sent off annualcreditreport's identity form with my ID so I could get my report. I should receive it by the end of this week. I'll check it out and if it's not accurate I will file the complaints. If that doesn't work I'll have to consult an attorney. Determined1
Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. If they don't resolve the issue for me I may have to contact an attorney too. I may try one other route, which is arbitration. If you have online monitoring / credit reporting with Equifax Personal Solutions (or their websites), they have a dispute section in their contract for arbitration. I have some experience with arbitration so I'm comfortable with that process. It often brings the other party quickly to the table for a resolution whereas a lawsuit could take years. I'll drop a note here if I have any success resolving my split file. Thanks again for your reply.
