BAW
Hi, we got a paper in the mail from a debt settlement company saying that my gf is being sued by crown asset management. It had the case number and date filed but no other info. She hasn't been served either. We are moving from Arizona to Indiana in July and are wondering what to do/how it would work since we read online that those cases in AZ can take up to two years and we won't be here. BackFromTheDebt
Do you happen to know the original creditor? That may or may not make a difference.

The major problem is they filed months before you moved. It can take up to 6 months to establish legal residency for the purposes of the courts. This was enacted to prevent couples from forum shopping in divorce/family court cases. It has trickled over to debt cases for the same reason(s). If she is served prior to the move she will have to defend the case in AZ at her expense. The court considers it her problem she moved not theirs. The good news is that due to covidiocy they just might let her appear by ZOOM.
