Jer.August
I recently got Lasik eye surgery, but I wanted to use my family members care credit. The person was my mother, so I was added as an authorized user under my mothers account. When I was added as a authorized user my personal information was never really added other than my name. My mothers care credit account with me as an authorized user was used to purchase the Lasik. Somehow the amount owed is now on my personal credit score which I wanted to avoid from the start that’s why I used my mothers care credit. Is there a way to get this off of my personal credit score since it’s under my mothers account?

Now that the surgery is over and the charge has been processed you don't need to stay on the account. Once removed the account will be removed from your credit. It is reporting because there is a balance. The benefit to an AU account is you do get the positive results of the added credit but that also includes a reported balance. That is why when the person who owns the account maxes it out the AU takes a hit too. The only difference is an AU is not legally responsible for the debt if the account owner defaults. So if I remove myself the balance should disappear from my report? Do you think me paying on it actually helps my credit? Would it boost me even more if it is removed? I can't say how much it would boost your scores since I don't know exactly what is in your file. If you are removed from the account as an AU then the trade line will be removed from your reports as well.
