I had a debt that I paid off to the OC. It was paid upon my first notice of debt from the OC. This was in april. I just received a letter today from Equifax notifying me of a derogatory item on my report. When I looked it up there is a CA for the account I paid off to the creditor. I have disputed the item with Equifax(not sure if it is reported to the other two), and am getting ready to start the validation process. This is a bit concerning to me. We are in the process of buying a house with a VA loan post Bankruptcy and this CA will put an end to our home buying. I stand to lose a good deal of ernest money if this isnt resolved. My problem is that I paid the debt as soon as I was made aware of it with the OC and now I have a collection on my report. are there any other steps outside of the validation process that I can take to make sure that I get this off of my other wise pristine post BK report? Also, does anyone know if it might be as simple as explaining this to my underwriter and they can waive the CA?

just make sure you get to court to state your case. one of our first cases we didnt go, figuring it was hopeless, then when another came up we went. well the first case lead to massive garnishments, and the second, the judge asked us how much we could afford to pay, set that as our monthly payment and we were done. DO NOT LET IT DEFAULT. worst and most expensive mistake of my life.

were both filing joint. her wages are being garnished because i wasnt working at the time(and now that my contracted job is over i wont be working again)

im in the process of putting together my chapter 7 paperwork. i ahev yet to find a lawyer who will take payments for bankruptcy, but we have a car with a loan, no house also wondering if it would be wise to call the collection agency that filed the judgement. would they be willing to lower payments you think? it seems tha it would be better for them to lower payments so i could keep paying a smaller amount as opposed to them getting nothing(and possibly having to repay 90 days worth via adversary proceeding) if we file chapter

My wifes checks have been garnished for 700 per month for a few months now. the garnishments have made things difficult, but we have been able to manage, until now. I will be losing my job in 2 weeks. wih my income going away, for an indefinite amount of time is there any way to get the garnishment sopped or a least adjusted? we wont be able to afford to live if the garnishment continues. Would filing a claim of exemption with the court help? I am at a loss for how to proceed, short of filing chapter 7(which we cant afford to do anyway) any help is greatly appreciated

so i the wife and i had been debating chapter 7 for a bit. then we had a judgment filed against us. garnisments started, then i lost my job. I was out of work for about 6 months we fell 4 months behind(1450/month). I have regained employment, but make about 13k less than i did when we bought the home. i am attempting to have a loan mod, but we have a 600 dollar per month garnishment that is making finances tight. Is there any way to file 7 and keep our home? 13 isnt an option. we are currenntly at 6.5% interest, and with a drop to current rates the home would be back in our reach.

So my DW received a summons today from a CA that we have dealt w in the past. We had a lapse in Insurance coverage and it happened to fall on my daughters birth. We settled up this account, so we thought, by paying them the amt in full, now this is where it gets hairy. apparently they had also received a few other Collection accounts from a couple of OCs. they simply put this onto the account balance. We have never received anything in print, they could have called DW phone, not sure. They are taking us to court for over $9k... un believable. I am not sure of the exact details of what they are collecting on, as i am at work and DW received the summons today. I will be going to court, but I would like to know how to head at this prob. Attny? If we owe the debt I want to pay it, but if we were never aware of a few of these... I just dont know..

surfed a bit didnt find much info. One of my disputed items is a car payment with Americredit. It updates monthly, i am diputing a late. So wold the dispute be what would be dropping it seing as it is a 5 yr old acct. I would think that since it updates montly that the "recent activity"wouldnt affect the drop? right? rong? the other disputed items show the same DOA which is the last time i diputed. although with my last round of disputes i didnt have my fico, i dont recall drops like this.

mine just dropped 73 points. nothing changed, date of acctivity and reporting still the same. I am majorly confused. I have been paying everything on time and now this. I was going to buy a car on monday, but I guess not. It seems a bit screwy that I can do EVRYTHING they say to do for good credit and it tanks. Hell, its lower than when I STARTED doing repairs. WTF

So my EQ score just dropped 73 points today. there were no changes to my account with the exception of a dispute. but the account diputed was for late payments. which it reports on a monthly basis. can anyone help explain why this happened and if there is anything I can do.
