  1. Wow, congrats! Now that's inspiration!
  2. Can someone explain what a hard pull and a soft pull are? What is their significance regarding removing inquiries? I'm finding pieces of information, but no real explanation in my search...
  3. Okay. So that leaves me with no idea what to do... Anyone had any experience with a similar situation?
  4. I think that this card is guaranteed by my husband... still not exactly sure... waiting for a copy of his CR... What if I wrote a letter stating that we are currently obtaining legal counsel regarding both business and personal bankruptcies, but that we may consider settling... and then making an offer? Would that be unwise?
  5. THANKS! A brick through the window? That doesn't sound promising...
  6. Ha ha ha! We don't have any assets that they can take! It's an LLC. We opened the account so long ago, I don't remember if he personally backed it or not. How can I find out?
  7. Okay, that's good advice... but here's a catch. The company that this card served for is dissolving. Our other option would probably be bankrupting the company. Do you think that they would settle for less if we told them that?
  8. We have a business credit card that my husband's name is on. (We own the business.) We're now being called by FIA Card Services because we have now gone a few months without paying it. We owe $4,800 on it. We don't have the cash to settle; however, we might in a month or two. Two questions: (1) Has anyone ever settled with this company before? Can you give advice? Should I try to settle at all? I read that not settling with them can be bad news... (2) If I should settle with them, is there any way to stall them until we come up with the cash? Thanks for any input!
  9. Would anyone happen to have a fax # for Asset Acceptance?
  10. Hey does anyone know the answer to the post above me? I'd like to know an answer, too...
  11. Congrats on the delete... ...wish I could help, but I'd like an answer to this question, too...
  12. In December, my DH's Cap1 went into collections with Allied Interstate. We didn't get the mail (we live in 2 different places...), and therefore missed the 30 day validation period. What do I do now?
  13. I thought it was strange too; however, I think it has something to do with the area I live in. In Cincinnati, there is a high percentage of idiocy. You know the saying, "There's an idiot born every minute"? In Cincinnati, it's every second. I used to have a yellow pages ad in Michigan. I paid monthly, no questions asked. When I tried to get a listing in the Cincinnati yellow pages, they required full payment up front... not because of my credit rating, but because they have a harder time collecting in Cincinnati than anywhere else. There's something in the water here. A lot of really cheap people. Not frugal... cheap. Anyway, I think that could have something to do with it. I always heard Toyota was good about giving chances, so I was shocked when they didn't want to work with me. I really want a Matrix.
  14. Thanks for the replies. My FICO is 533... and I already went to Toyota. They wouldn't work with me...
  15. Even with my low FICO, I was just approved for a car loan for at 22% APR. EEK! That's high... Anyhow, I told the loan officer at the dealership that I was in the process of cleaning up my credit report. He said that I should go ahead and purchase the car to help improve my score, and then when I clean up my CR, apply to refinance the car with my bank. Is this a good idea, or is he just trying to sell me? I didn't think that banks liked to refinance cars because they depreciate too fast...
  16. Can I request an investigation with an OC simply for the fact that they didn't notify me of the insertion of a negative listing?
  17. I know some of you have this info posted in your sigs; however, I'm still curious... Where were you in the beginning of your credit repair journey? Where are you now? How long did it take you to get where you are now? C'mon... give us newbies a light at the end of the tunnel!
  18. Genius, jetscarbie... THANKS! Does anyone know of a page on this site that lists reasons to dispute?
  19. I have quite a few bad debts... quite a few... If I listed all of the debts that I wanted to list in a dispute letter, there would be 17. (Some of which are the same debt sold more than once...) So, am I going to look like an idiot to them for disputing so many debts at once? Is that really obvious? Thanks!
  20. Thank you!
  21. This is a two-fold thread - (1) - Are revolving credit cards considered open-ended accounts or written contracts in Ohio? (2) - I found the following information at http://www.carreonandassociates.com regarding the SOL in Ohio: STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS (IN YEARS) Open Acct.: 4 Sales Contract (UCC2-725) Written Contract: 15 Domestic Judgment: 21 renew every 5 Foreign Judgment: 21 renew every 5 However, in other places, the SOL in Ohio is listed as 6 years. Does anyone know which one is correct? Thanks!
  22. Their names are Alliance One and CBT Credit Service. I'm pretty sure they're the same people - but not 100% sure... So, if they are the same, does it matter which one I mail my validation letters to? Should I mail to both?
  23. Okay, what's DOFD... that's a new one...
  24. If you read his books, you'll gather that Kevin likes to write about whatever the government supposedly doesn't want you to know about. He's not a professional writer really... more like a professional researcher. He claims to previously have been involved in things like getting soda machines put in schools so that kids would become obese... then one day he almost died of some kind of heart disorder, and blah blah blah, his life changed and he wants to help people now by being a whistle blower. Anyway, I have some of his books, and they're actually pretty good. Some of his theories are a little out there, to say the least... but over-all he's pretty on-target. Would you find useful information on this book? That I can't answer... but I do know that I found a lot of useful information in his other books that I cannot find on the internet...
  25. Hey all; How do I know or find out if two different CA's are, in fact, one and the same? I have two different CA's reporting the same debt on two different CR's during the same month and year...
