Been_Ponzied Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 At first I thought this was just a glitch due to getting a free report from them. Then tonight I paid $9.50 and it still will not allow me to dispute online! Why would they want to go back to the old paperwork method? Also, this makes it harder to get the many questionable lates removed from my file. How do I dispute lates via the U.S. mail? What a hassle!
Valkyrine Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 I've had the same problem... sometimes I can get into the dispute page, and sometimes I go thru the whole set up and it denies me access. I did just get in the other night tho.... wait 24 hours and then try again. Maybe that will help.To dispute by mail, you write a letter that includes the accounts you wish to dispute (see SAMPLE LETTERS link, near the "Good Credit is Sexy" Order the book today ad); make copies for yourself then send it certified mail, return receipt requested.
Been_Ponzied Posted April 18, 2005 Author Report Posted April 18, 2005 OK, I will keep trying even though I did write them a letter, because I also want to try to dispute online. I don't understand why they would possibly want to go back to the old slow U.S. Mail way.
rising_score Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 I am able to get to the dispute online page through myfico.com. What is really cool, is that I can use an older report, and when I get to the Experian dispute site, it shows me up to date information. For example, the last report I pulled on myfico was 4/13 and did not show my new Target account. Today, I go to the Experian dispute form, and it shows that account!
Been_Ponzied Posted April 18, 2005 Author Report Posted April 18, 2005 Could you be more specific on how to do that through myfico.com? Do you need to give them money first?
rising_score Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Could you be more specific on how to do that through myfico.com? Do you need to give them money first?I go to http://www.myfico.comThen I log in, and order an Experian Credit Report with score, which I believe costs $14.95. Once you have a report, you can continue to view it online for about 30 days, so if you have a 30 day old report from them, you can use that. Then I click on "View" to view the report. Then I scroll to the bottom to where it says, "Dispute incorrect information online."The nice thing is that even if I am working off of a report that is 2 weeks old, when I click on "Dispute incorrect information online," I am able to pull up more current information free of charge!

For some reason they won't let me dispute online.
crofttk Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 It looks to me, Ponzied, like rising_score just described to you how to purchase your Experian FICO score with credit report at myFICO.com and how to dispute from that website NOT FROM EXPERIAN.If you decide to purchase a report at myFICO.com, try the discount code "2005fico" to get 20% off -> $11.96.

But geezus, having to pay again the VERY NEXT DAY after I paid Experian! I'm not rich! I do appreciate the discount information, though - thanks! It adds up for both husband and I to check all three reports. Not everyone has $60 to throw away when they are on a budget. And now, since I paid them already, it's going to total $70 if I check all three.
crofttk Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Understood. I thought YOU mistakenly thought rising_score was suggesting you purchase an Experian report because you said you'd ALREADY made that mistake. My mistake.
kevmic Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I just figured out the other day that if you have a popup blocker on your computer, that you have to disable it to get the dispute page to come up.I couldnt use Tu's website untill I disabled it but I used Experian's site just fine with it up.
